Nanyang Polytechnic is a polytechnic situated in the precinct of Yio Chu Kang in the city of Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. History
Nanyang Polytechnic started on 1 April 1992, and enrolled its very first batch of students for its School of Health Sciences and School of Business Management in July '92. The Faculty of Engineering and the School of Information Technology was open in July 1993.
It initially run from five temporary schools before moving to its long-term home in Ang Mo Kio in April 98.
The Faculty of Design and School of Chemical and Life Sciences was set up in November Year 2000, and then the Faculty of Interactive and Digital Media in November 2006.
Campus
Distributed more than 305,000 m2 (3,280,000 square feet) of land (around the size of Sixty soccer fields), Nanyang Polytechnic is situated beside the Yio Chu Kang MRT station. The school holds 14 administration blocks, three blocks for leisure and pupil development usages and 3 blocks for employees lodgings. The school is modelled on a town-centre concept to provide the conveniences of a self-contained "Instructing and Learning Area". Amenities include a completely computerised library, labs, a Movie theater for the Arts and an auditorium. Shops on campus offer a selection of academic items together with other leisure products.
Sports facilities consist of track and field, adventure challenge park, gym, swimming pool, tennis games court and rock-climbing walls. Badminton, ping pong, basketball and table tennis are located in the air-conditioned sports area. An Olympic-sized swimming pool can be found next to the sport hall.
